在指“不久就要……”時(shí)，后通常接不定式，如about to start。也有接動名詞，如about starting。但是不可再加表示時(shí)間的詞，如不可說about starting at once;

　　指“大約”的意思時(shí)，表達(dá)方式有about ten，about half等。注意ten和half都是明確的數(shù)量，about不該用在“多少不定”的詞前，如about more than ten，about less than half;

　　與at搭配使用時(shí)，about是副詞，沒有at時(shí)，about 是介詞。句中可有at，也可沒有，意思相同。
